2020 Project Recap
2020 will always be remembered as the pandemic year with great upheaval to work and life. Before the pandemic hit in March, LAB started the year strongly with a new project for the planning and programming of an ambitious building at the University of Chicago to serve laboratories, teaching labs and offices for the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering and the Chicago Quantum Exchange. LAB also presented their Blue Necklace concept to address sea level rise to the City of Boston’s Sustainability Office. Moderna entrusted LAB with the renovation of 5 levels of their 200 Tech Square facility to support the Warp Speed program to develop the Covid RNA vaccine. Alexandria Real Estate Equities (ARE) engaged LAB to design a gut renovation and lab conversion for Constellation Pharmaceuticals at the Arsenal campus in Watertown MA. The year ended with a new commission to design the R&D headquarters for Dewpoint Therapeutics at D Street in Boston. Microsoft Quantum Azure continued to provide LAB with new projects to support their effort to develop a quantum computer with new labs for dilution refrigerators and MBE systems at the Microsoft Development Center outside of Copenhagen Denmark.
