Mikkeller, a Danish craft beer company, is opening a flagship bar in Paris. We decided to heed the call for design ideas. While we were not selected for the project, we enjoyed the journey and look forward to visiting the new spot!
Our concept for the location in the 9th arr called for preserving pieces of the former bistro’s Parisian DNA, while incorporating the Mikkeller brand and signature aesthetic. Working through the original space, unique elements are revealed, honored and preserved.The exterior maintains the green color of the previous bar, but adds refreshed elements by creating an outdoor space with sidewalk seating and a modern canopy of plexiglass supported by a wood truss. The interior design maintains original elements, such as the original wood flooring, and “Le Colimaçon,” the signature spiral staircase, as well as the original paneling and terrazzo at the entry.
