2021 was marked by projects under construction, with job sites masked-up and with small crews. LAB saw Thrive, Dewpoint, Constellation Pharmaceuticals, Moderna and Microsoft all move from drawings to reality. As members of Moderna’s Warp Speed team, LAB staff were provided with early access to the Moderna vaccine and travelled to Norwood to get our shots. At the University of Chicago, we completed the planning and programming of the New Engineering and Sciences Building (NESB) and were awarded the project to construct a new chemistry lab for Paul Alivisatos who departed Berkeley to be new president of UChicago. Our work at MIT in buildings NW 15 and 14 continued, and our engagement with Microsoft Quantum Azure expanded into Redmond WA and other European sites. The year ended with a huge boost when we were awarded the contract to provide planning and programming services for the new Advanced Sciences Building at the Ecole Polytechnique Federation Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland.
